What to Expect in 2026

Throughout 2026, FOI Assist will host a series of live, online seminars exploring Ontario’s Freedom of Information legislative framework — including FIPPA, MFIPPA, IPCO guidance, and practical examples drawn from real-world FOI scenarios.

Each seminar will focus on practical tools and best practices to help FOI professionals improve their workflows and strengthen legislative compliance.

Participants will earn credit toward the FOI Practitioner Certificate — FOI Assist Seminar Series (2026), awarded to Knowledge Base subscribers who complete five or more seminars during the 2026 calendar year.

Hello Justin, Hope you and your family are all doing well this snowy December? I don’t see what the cost is to take the training and ultimately obtain the certification – could you please advise? I am looking for work at the moment, so don’t fit the bill of being a provincial or municipal lawyer, I’m afraid. thanks,Naomi Furmst

Is the seminar being taped to review at a later time?

      Thanks for the question, Alison.
The seminar will be recorded for internal purposes, but I haven’t decided whether a recording will be made available afterward.
The live session is the preferred way to attend and will include real-time questions, discussion, and a short skill-testing quiz made available after the live session.
I hope you can join us live on January 28!
