Accept Freedom of Information Requests Online with FOI Assist

Would your institution like to accept freedom of information requests online? The FOI Assist software now makes it easy.

FOI Assist is very pleased to announce the release of the “Submit FOI” feature, which allows FOI Assist clients to easily accept freedom of information (FOI) requests online.

You can now use the FOI Assist software to set up a public-facing website which accepts freedom of information requests and even collects the $5.00 application fee from the requestor. The website created by the FOI Assist software is customizable, accessible and bilingual. Further, it accepts general records requests, personal information requests (whether by the individual or an authorized agent), and correction requests in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

Requests received online can be processed in the FOI Assist software without having to retype the information provided by the requestor, saving the institution time and improving accuracy.

There is no added cost to FOI Assist clients to use this new feature; the ability to receive FOI requests online is now included with your FOI Assist software subscription. And there is no added fee for requestors. The FOI Assist software collects the $5.00 freedom of information application fee at the time the request is made, and the application fees collected are then transferred to the institution, less transaction fees charged by the payment processor.
